U.S. allows Ukraine to strike Russia with American long-range missiles, Trump’s special envoy Kellogg confirms

Keith Kellogg, Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, has stated that Washington has authorized Kyiv to strike Russian territory using long-range American weapons. The announcement came as part of an interview with Fox News and was made in response to the host’s request that Kellogg comment on Trump’s recent statement that, with the help of Western allies, Ukraine might be able to restore its prewar borders.

“I think reading what he has said, and reading what Vice President Vance has said as well as Secretary Rubio, the answer is yes. Use the ability to hit deep. There are no such things as sanctuaries,” Kellogg said in response to a question about whether Trump had authorized such strikes. The special envoy noted, however, that in certain cases Trump might withhold permission for the attacks. “Everybody should follow what the President says. He's the Commander in Chief, by the Constitution, and everybody falls in line,” Kellogg emphasized. He underlined that the war between Russia and Ukraine is a global issue that concerns the entire world, not just Europe.

Kellogg also said that no decision has yet been made on providing Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles, although he confirmed earlier reports that Volodymyr Zelensky had requested these weapons during a closed-door meeting with Trump on the margins of the U.N. General Assembly in New York.

Earlier in September, Trump wrote on Truth Social:

“Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form. With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option. Why not? Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win.”

On Sept. 28, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Russian city of Belgorod with HIMARS rockets, hitting the local combined heat and power plant and causing electricity and water outages in the city.
